A committee of selves

TL;DR It is very helpful to see the processes of the mind not as 1 self that is changing its mind all the time, but rather as a committee of conflicting interests, each arguing for what they want. That way, on the path to mood improvement, the task stops being: "I need to stop feeling X", but rather becomes: how do I govern the committee in such a way that at least the majority of the members are on board. A few angry voices does not mean: "I am secretely but truly angry", it becomes: "Oh, there are a few angry voices, I should be careful not to let them steer the ship."
